Empakaai Crater, nestled at approximately 2,460 m in the Ngorongoro Highlands, is a hidden gem featuring a deep, water-filled caldera renowned for its serene beauty. Unlike the grassy rims of nearby craters, Empakaai is surrounded by steep forested walls that open to a tranquil soda lake at its heart—often visited by pink flamingos and home to a bird-rich habitat. The crater rim offers breathtaking views over Lake Empakaai and, in clear weather, sweeping panoramas toward the Great Rift Valley escarpment.
A hike to the crater rim takes roughly 1–2 hours, followed by a descent into the crater and exploration of the lake shore. Along the way, hikers journey through montane forest dense with wildflowers, orchids, and moss. The peaceful atmosphere, rare wildlife sightings, and dramatic scenery make Empakaai a perfect destination for nature lovers seeking solitude and natural wonder.
Revered by the Maasai as Siringet, meaning “the place where the land runs on forever,” Serengeti National Park stands as one of Africa’s most legendary safari destinations. A designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park stretches across vast open savannahs, dotted with acacia trees and granite outcrops known as kopjes.
Serengeti is best known for hosting the awe-inspiring Great Migration — a yearly journey of over 1.3 million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles as they move in search of greener pastures. This dramatic movement attracts predators and offers nature’s most thrilling spectacles.
From breathtaking sunsets to close encounters with Africa’s Big Five, the Serengeti offers an experience that stays with you long after the journey ends.
